For the first time in South Africa, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will be displaying authentic artifacts recovered from the famous shipwreck. Delicate perfume vials, porcelain dinnerware with the White Star Line logo, personal belongings and numerous items recreating a lost era. We celebrate and remember all those whose lives were lost or changed by one of the biggest maritime disasters that mankind witnessed in modern history
Discover the stories of the South Africans on board Titanic, learn about passengers and crew members, admire a recreated iceberg installed in the exhibition and come closer to the events of that fatal night…
Educational, emotional and appropriate for all ages, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition takes you, as the visitor, on a journey through the life of Titanic. Along the way you will be told stories of heroism and humanity that pay honour to the indomitable force of the human spirit in the face of tragedy.
The Exhibition has been designed with a focus on the legendary RMS Titanic’s compelling human stories. White Star Line personal china, postcards and pieces of the ship will also be on show, along with certain areas that have been recreated to mimic the rooms of Titanic.
Upon entering Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, as a visitor, you will be drawn back in time to April 1912, when the ship embarked on its maiden voyage. You will receive a replica boarding pass, assume the role of a passenger and follow the chronological journey of life on Titanic – from the ship’s construction, to life on board, the famous sinking, and the modern day efforts to recover and conserve the wreckage for future generations.
